AI-Powered Level Crossing Safety

RakshaCross Lite
Traditional CCTV watches. RakshaCross acts.

Intelligent safety for unmanned level crossings, purpose-built for Indian conditions. It recognises the hazards that matter and responds in the moment — preventing incidents rather than just recording them, even where connectivity isn't reliable.

The problem

Unmanned crossings carry disproportionate risk

Traditional cameras record incidents; they don't prevent them. And approaches that assume always-on connectivity simply don't hold up at most level crossings — so incidents get reviewed days later, with no chance to intervene.

The difference it makes

From passive recording to active prevention

Acts in the moment

Genuine hazards are recognised and responded to as they appear — turning a passive camera into something that helps prevent the incident.

Built for Indian crossings

Tuned to the realities of local crossings, including the everyday hazards that most systems built elsewhere simply don't account for.

Works where the network doesn't

Stays effective without relying on always-on connectivity — and keeps a clear, contextual record of every event for later review.

Questions we get asked

Common questions

How is this different from a CCTV camera at a level crossing?
CCTV records what happened. RakshaCross Lite runs detection at the edge and acts on it while there is still time to matter. The distinction is between having evidence for an inquiry and preventing the event that would have triggered one.
Does it work at unmanned crossings with no power or network?
It is designed for unmanned crossings and operates offline-first, with processing done locally at the crossing rather than depending on a connection back to a control centre. Site power and connectivity are assessed per location during survey.
Why "built for Indian conditions"?
Detection models trained on European or North American crossings underperform on the mix of livestock, two-wheelers, pedestrians and informal traffic at an Indian level crossing, in dust and monsoon visibility. The system is tuned for what is actually there.
What does "Lite" mean — what is it a lighter version of?
It is the deployable subset: the detection and intervention capability that can be installed at scale on existing crossings without civil works or interlocking changes. That constraint is deliberate, because the crossings most in need are the ones hardest to rebuild.
